Sanford, Pierson, Thone & Strean is pleased to announce that Kirby C. Graff and Matthew W. Simenstad have been named partner.

Kirby Graff practices estate planning and real estate law and has extensive experience practicing in the areas of creditor remedies and civil litigation. He is admitted to practice law in Minnesota and North Dakota state as well as federal district courts.
Kirby grew up in greater Minnesota, graduating from Dassel-Cokato High School. Kirby attended the University of North Dakota and graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law. Kirby spent his early legal career in North Dakota serving as a Judicial Law Clerk for the judges of the North Central Judicial District in Minot, North Dakota and in private practice in Fargo, North Dakota.

Kirby is an active member of the Mound-Westonka Rotary Club and the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce (currently serving on the board of directors). When not in the office, Kirby enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball and golf, metal-detecting, hunting, and fishing.

Matt Simenstad focuses on estate planning, real estate, and corporate law, and emphasizes helping individuals, families, and small business clients with needs in each of these areas. He believes empathy is a vital part of advising and advocating for clients effectively. Matt particularly enjoys connecting with clients on a personal level to better understand their needs as he helps them navigate and make important strategic decisions to achieve their short- and long-term goals. Matt joined Sanford, Pierson, Thone, and Strean in 2018 after working at U.S. Bank, where he drafted and negotiated contracts and worked on regulatory compliance and risk management issues.

Matt attended law school at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and completed his undergraduate degree at St. Olaf College. He grew up in Eden Prairie and graduated from high school at St. Paul Academy. Matt enjoys spending as much time with his family as he can, traveling, running, and playing golf.
